Preparations

Under tile Heating preparation

Under tile heating is a quick and easy application. Most installations have the first stage completed within a day. There are a few preparation procedures that need to be in place to ensure a smooth application of our product. Under tile heating is laid closer to the end of your building process just before tiling. For example in bathrooms the under tile heating is installed once the floor preparations, jibing, waterproofing, pre-wire and fixtures and fittings are installed or marked out(for kitchens we prefer the cabinetry to be in place). The pre-wire(draw wire) will need to be in place before the first part of the installation and the circuit wiring will need to be in place before the final fit of the thermostat(s). See the instructions on our specific Under Tile preparation page for more details.

Under carpet Heating preparation

Under carpet heating can be laid either once the carpet and underlay have been brought up in an existing home or before the carpet laying in a new development. We are happy to liaise with the carpet layers so our schedules can meet to cut down on any time delays. Heatwell under carpet heating is covered with a thin layer of self-leveling screed requiring over night to dry. There are a few preparation procedures to take note regarding floor preparation and pre-wiring. See the instructions on our specific Under Carpet preparation page for more details.

In-concrete Heating preparation

In-concrete heating is laid at a very early stage of your building process. The installation of at least 25mm polystyrene insulation and reinforcing mesh will need to be installed before the commencement of the element laying. Heatwell will need to be in contact with the builder to make sure the concrete pourer's and element laying are scheduled in appropriately. The builder will need to ensure all permanent fixtures and plumbing fittings are marked out before the laying of in-concrete heating. See the instructions on our specific In concrete preparation page for more details.
