Why has my underfloor heating stopped working?

When electric underfloor heating stops working, the fault is usually the thermostat or controller on the wall, not the heating cable under the floor. Underfloor heating thermostats, like all electrical appliances, fail over time. The cable underneath is almost always undamaged.

A replacement thermostat will fix the problem unless the floor has moved, the flooring has been lifted, or the cable has been damaged — usually by installing something on the finished flooring.
